The Elder Scrolls Online on PlayStation 4 will not require a PlayStation Plus subscription to access, instead opting for only the game's base subscription fee, according to a post from director Matt Firor on the PlayStation Blog.

Previously criticised in the past for requiring three different payments to access the game, Firor revealed that this will no longer be the case for PlayStation 4 players, though sadly it seems Xbox One will still be requiring its Xbox Live Gold membership. This will mean that PlayStation 4 players only have to worry about the $15 monthly fee alongside the initial box cost, with Xbox One needing the Gold fee on top of the monthly subscription and box cost. Pricey.

Firor's post also reveals that North America and European residents will each be getting separate "megaservers" for their respected region and platform of choice, including Windows and Mac users.

ZeniMax Online Studios are "still testing and tweaking" button mapping configurations for the DualShock 4 controller, noting that it will be slightly different fro previous Elder Scrolls Games, but Firor notes there will be some similarities in the configuration to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The central touchpad that the DualShock 4 boasts is also being looked into, though no word on what it will be used for.
