Zenimax Online Studios president and The Elder Scrolls Online director Matt Firor has posted new state-of-the-game style blog for the recently launched MMORPG, apologising for some of the early downtime, offering compensation in the form of five free days for subscribers, and going on to outline some of the planned upcoming features and content.

Firor describes the following list as being in "active development", but notes that they don't yet know specifically which upcoming patch update each will be included in:
  • A system that allows grouped players to see each other even when they’re in different phases
  • A justice system—steal from and kill NPCs and deal with the consequences if you are caught
  • Migration of European Megaserver to our European datacenter.
  • Field of View (FOV) adjustment
  • Armor dyeing and tinting
  • Two new Veteran Dungeons: Crypt of Hearts and City of Ash
  • New region of Craglorn with a new Trial (the Serpent)
  • Increased ability to pick up items in the world
  • Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood storyline and quests.
  • Spellcrafting
  • Horse Racing
  • Dragonstar Arena—similar to Trials, but built for a group of four
  • Improvements to fishing
  • Crafting system improvements
  • Improved Looking for Group system
  • Better NPC facial animations
  • Guild functionality updates: guild store interface updates, customizable guild insignias, tabards, and guild ranks, and Guild Kiosks—guild stores open to everyone that are available to the highest-bidding guild.
  • Auto-leveling dungeons that level to your group leader
  • Awards when you repeat dungeons
  • Imperial City PvP dungeon

They also changed the Friday 8am EDT maintenance (which hit us at 10pm Friday nights) to Thursday 8am EDT so we aussies can play Friday nights now.

Too little too late.

Myself and two friends finally threw the towel in last night and unsubbed and uninstalled. All three of us massively regret buying Imperial Editions as well, ~250 bucks just thrown away.

Just about to hit VR1 today and despite some of the issues the game has I'm looking forward to the update. Wish they would give us some news about the console versions though because I mainly game on my Xbox One now.

Awful review. A good review will balance the positives and negatives, that is just almost entirely negative.

That's because it was entirely a negative experience for me. If it wasn't tied in anyway to the Elder Scrolls name, there wouldn't be a single overall positive review, and that's just not right... the game's universe shouldn't be used as an excuse for piss-poor execution of designing and building an MMO. There are countless missing basic features of an MMO, awful support, and awful overall game polish. No need to re-hash every reason, since as I said, that review is very close to my own experience and thoughts. Personally, I think it's another 12 months away from being a viable MMO contender to anything else out there right now. Who knows though, a maaassive game patch in the future that revamps practically every aspect of the game could swing me back. I just refuse to waste anymore $$$ on a game I do not find fun right now.
