There's no doubt the announcement of The Elder Scrolls Online, in official form, has left many a fan of Bethesda's high-fantasy work salivating with anticipation, and why wouldn't it? The rich world of Tamriel is ripe for the MMO fields, and there's so much established lore to draw from, with countless tales already told through in-game books throughout the single-player series, that it almost seems silly we've waited this long.

To accompany this exciting announcement, Bethesda has given AusGamers the official debut trailer for their forthcoming foray into the MMO space, and while it's more a tantalising teaser than anything, it's still bound to raise the hair on the back of any Elder Scrolls fan's neck.

Remember that the first Skyrim trailer didn't show much, and then, bam.

At least, it's never pointless when you get a new rendition of the elder scrolls theme music. ;)

Yeah but what the f***, a TES MMO should have some serious weight behind it.
I'm absolutely baffled as to why Bethesda would allow the name tacked onto another generic looking MMO that I predict to fail hard tbh.

It amazes me that, with so little of this game actually revealed or shown, that it's already a major write-off for everyone. Jaded much?

At least wait until we know more before assuming the absolute worst about something we all know very little about.

It's just that the main pull of the franchise has seemingly always been the epic single player adventure... It's not completely written off yet though. ;)

It seems like the fantasy mmo market is saturated. I would've much preferred another single player romp in the elder scrolls universe.

Why? If you mean because of lack of an apostrophe, there isn't meant to be one "The Elder Scrolls Online" is the name of the game, its not implying ownership.

interested to see how they implement this game. I fear it'll be another WoW / EQ / SWTOR type clone though. The MMORPG genre needs some massive innovation from a big player.
