Which is still in production with both Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain attached to star. Previously the cinematic adaptation of The Division was to be led by 'Gold' and 'Syriana' director Stephen Gaghan, but he has since left the project. In his place is stuntman turned director of films like Atomic Blonde and the upcoming Deadpool 2, David Leitch.
Leitch who has wrapped up production on Deadpool 2 will move onto the Dwayne Johnson 'Fast and Furious' spinoff before production begins on The Division movie in 2019. This all sounds pretty good, but it's worth noting that Ubisoft Motion Pictures last film Assassin's Creed was a let-down. Mainly because it also featured a number of talented people involved in the production both behind and in-front of the camera.
Here's hoping that The Division movie can emphasise the stark almost bleak tone of the game in addition to all the shooty shooty stuff. Which will no doubt look great because David Leitch had a hand in the filming of the excellent John Wick.
And with production on The Division movie still a long way out we'll probably see The Division videogame sequel long before then, which will get its debut at E3 this year.
