Ubisoft has today revealed what will make up the first bit of free The Division content set to drop on April 12. Called Incursions, after the raid-like end-game activity that will debut with this content pack, this free update will also bring green Set Item loot to the game, new daily Assignments, and even an update to the Dark Zone.
The first Incursion is titled Falcon Lost and will take place in an underground water treatment facility that has been taken over by the Last Man Battalion. This and all future Incursions will be playable on either Hard or Challenge Mode, and will reward players with high level loot upon completion. Incursions are being designed as The Division's biggest challenge yet, so they won't feature checkpoints. Which means once your team goes down, you'll have to go back to the beginning.
And speaking of new gear, and continuing the action-RPG colouring scheme present in the game, The Division will be getting green Set Items that when put together will provide new powerful talents to players.
New gear is a vital centerpiece of Incursions, which introduces four rare gear sets: Sentry’s Call, Striker’s Battle Gear, Path of the Nomad, and Technician’s Authority. Each set is meant to bolster a specific play style; Sentry’s Call promotes consistent precision, Striker’s Battle Gear is for assault-focused players, and so on. Finding and equipping four pieces from a single set unlocks a new, never-before-seen talent for your Agent.
Those who have reached max level in The Division will be well aware that the end game content is severely lacking outside of re-playing the same handful of missions over and over. This update will also bring daily Assignments to the game (with the somewhat lacklustre example of "Kill 10 Cleaners" given), that will reward players with Phoenix Credits and Crafting Materials.
This update will also bring loot trading to the game allowing players to drop loot for other members in their group to pick up. Also coming is a great sounding addition to the Dark Zone, with Supply Drops. These non-contaminated loot boxes will drop periodically alongside high-level enemies forcing players to work together and then against each other in a race to score some new gear.
Incursions will be followed by another free update titled Conflict, which in addition to adding a new incursion set in New York’s Columbus Circle, but also a slew of as-yet unannounced Dark Zone features.
