With new content currently in development for The Division 2, and that game seeing more players in 2020 than in 2019, comes word of a new game set in the Tom Clancy inspired universe called The Division Heartland. Without a direct connection to the first or second game, this new title is standalone, will be free-to-play, and is set to launch sometime this year or next. That is, a 2021-2022 window.



Without a trailer or screenshots details are little light, but development is being led by Red Storm Entertainment -- a studio that supported the creation of both The Division and The Division 2. The teaser image and title indicate that the setting will be rural America -- which definitely sounds cool. Will it offer the same style of third-person looting and shooting? Time will tell, but you'd have to assume there's at least some of that to feel like a Division game.

The Division Heartland is set to hit PC and consoles, with Ubisoft also noting that the franchise is getting a mobile game. That and the Netflix film starring Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal based on the original New York-set installment is still in development.
