Get ready to test the power of your Schwartz, Star Wars fans. The
official Star Wars website has revealed the dates for the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront beta. It's only set to run for a tidy four days, kicking off on the 8th of October and coming to a close on the 12th of October.
The beta will be available for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with three playable modes. There's a Survival Mission on Tatooine, which is the mode that can be played alone or with one other player. I played it at Gamescom, and it's a bit meh. Hopefully, EA has added a bit more variety for this mode for the beta (and beyond).
Walker Assault on Hoth is the mode that was showcased at E3 and was part of the alpha test. I played that at Gamescom, too, and it's freakin' awesome. I didn't even get to use any vehicles, and I still had a great time. It's the biggest mode in Battlefront, pitting 20 Rebels against 20 Imperials, with the goodies tasked with attacking AT-ATs and the baddies in charge of defending them.
The third and final mode on offer is Drop Zone on Sullust. This is the new mode that was announced shortly after Gamescom so, as far as I'm aware, no-one outside of DICE and EA has played it yet. It's a smaller mode, with an 8v8 foundation, as teams fight to control specific escape pods, which promises to keep combat focused around a single objective.
