Ahead of MTV's Spike game awards this weekend, Activision have officially announced one of the game's to be revealed during the event. As has been rumored for some time now, it's yet another implementation of their license on Marvel's Spider-Man franchise titled The Amazing Spider-Man and poised to tie in with the upcoming film reboot of the same name.
The Amazing Spider-Man is in development at veteran game studio Beenox, and features an original narrative crafted by Hollywood writer Seamus Kevin Fahey (episodes of Spartacus: Gods of the Arena and the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica) that continues young Peter Parker’s adventures following the events of the new film. Using the game’s new Web Rush mechanic allows players to pull off a vast array of moves never before possible. With a story that takes players through many areas all over (and under) Manhattan, fans will feel what it’s truly like to be a Super Hero, as they experience the cinematic adrenaline rush of web-swinging through the city and fighting crime using Spider-Man’s spectacular acrobatic moves and attacks.
Beenox are of course the same developer that brought us the recent poorly received Spider-Man: Edge of Time, so if they absolutely must make yet another Spider-Man game again so soon, let's hope bringing the webslinger back to contemporary New York is the missing ingredient needed to make things fun again.

Watch the teaser trailer embedded below, click here for the direct video page, find more details in the press release and check back after the weekend for the full Spike VGAs trailer.

Man that New York environment looks bland as hell. Would it kill them to get some decent art design. Oh wait, it's a movie game...... Churn that junk at ASAP.

most likely its bland so that it runs at a respectable frame rate given how fast you appear to be able to zip across the map, if it had arkham city levels of detail I think it would s*** the bed.

of course it could just be movie tie in s*** but wasn't there a movie tie in spiderman game that was well regarded in the past?

All these Spiderman games have looked more or less the same both in art and game play for the last 10 years.
If one of my kids wanted one of these games I'd talk them out of it quick smart.
