Tbh I'd be alright with 60 fps looking that good but some how I get the feeling that only the beefiest of rigs will handle this.
Also I've already played the f*** out of single player on ps3 so not paying full price for it prolly won't be playing again.

yeah mine has started from the begging again as well but I had only downloaded about 6GB last night. I was thinking it was because I had shut it down and that it doesn't simply start back up where it left off.
I don't know what's worse, that it doesn't have a basic feature that lets you download over multiple sessions or that it is buggy enough to force you to redownload big chunks of data.

turns out the downloader was bugged and donwloading the same file over and over which meant if you restarted the downloader it would start from the beginning again because you had only actually downloaded the one file. I just checked my install folder and it seems to be downloading the right files now so hopefully it has been fixed but I'd be seriously pissed if I had downloaded most of it before noticing this.

Was about to purchase with Hola but think I might wait to see how GTA Online improves with PC and mod support. Wish I hadn't played the PS3 version on release - not that excited anymore - caved into the hype.

That said I was able to run over Micheal's wife with a car after she basically yelled at him for her cheating on him with the tennis coach. F*** that b****, tho I had to pay hospital bills so at least they are teaching kids about consequences!
I've spent most of my time on the SP campaign so far, I tried a bit of the MP but it seems like you just do a bunch of boring "jobs" with randoms for some unknown goal. Even if you had mates on and were all doing the jobs together I can't seeing it being super fun without a lot of alcohol to make driving all over the place to kill NPC's exciting.

It was his wife's car I think. I'm just pissed because I'd JUST upgraded a few things on it, then it went and did that, and then the fuzz impounded all of his cars.
Funny though, after a cut scene I was presented with a cop car with no cops in sight, so I just hopped in that & off I went. Eye for an eye and all that.
What? When she cheated with the coach and Michael went after the coach? How'd you run over the wife? For me she just ran back in the house and I literally haven't seen her since.

In fairness, I was playing a lot of Lionhead's 2005 Black & White 2 last week, that looks like the s*** on a modern video card, if you can get it working.

i also laughed pretty hard at the phone bomb mission, i was totally not expecting a bomb. i thought maybe sabotage the phone so it malfunctions on TV or something

I was really disappointed with the gun play at first thinking it felt like s***** console port controls but it improves a lot if you switch to first person view during shoot outs.
Steering with a keyboard still feels really unrefined though and for some stupid reason to do a burn out you have to hold down reverse and accelerate at the same time (W,S) instead of the usual handbreak (space bar).

I tried steering with an xbox controller and it's.... well it's really weird. I don't mind the keyboard but I was all over the damn place with the xbox controller. Also controlling planes is impossible, I'm not sure if my controller is rooted or what but the plane was just dipping and diving all over the place at random.
I've tried first person mode and it just feels weird. I'm down with that 3rd person shenanigans in this.

Like why the f*** is go forward right trigger, backwards left trigger when you're in a car, but right trigger is brake and A is go forward on a pushbike?
The crazy dippyness was in flight school. I was doing "ok" with the keyboard but kept mixing up up and down so I tried with the gamepad and the plane just flipped its s***.
edit: holy s*** I suck at the choppers in this. I'm used to how they are controlled in battlefield 4

I tried the controller and there's no way to set the dead zone so even just a slight touch on the left stick will send the plane spiraling off into a tree. I don't have an xbone controller, just an old xbox 360 controller for windows. I did try my PS4 controller but the cable was too short so I had to lean over the desk to use it. Not sure if you can pair the PS4 controller with windows via bluetooth.

- quick save is nice and works well mid mission. Fail a stage and you just go back to the start of the stage, instead of having to start again
- being able to save anywhere, so good (maybe GTA4 had that, can't remember, hated playing it so much)
- the special abilities are awesome and make tricky parts of the game a lot more accessible. Franklin's in particular made driving long distances much less of a chore.
- phone calls are not irritating, not constantly being bombarded with dumb stuff
- switching between players is a great twist
- cars not exploding at the drop of a hat, being able to roll them back over makes driving a lot more pleasant.
- never felt like I had to constantly go buy ammo or supplies or whatever. I could just sit down and play the game.
I haven't had a good online experience yet, seems like it could be fun but playing with randoms has been a trainwreck so far.
It is stunningly gorgeous even on my not-top-of-the-line machine. I spent about half an hour yesterday standing on the top of Mt Chiliad watching the sun rise and set just looking around. So awesome.
The voice acting is as usual great, Trevor in particular is hilarious.
I feel like it is way more hardcore than any other GTA. More swearing, more violence. The torture scene made me uncomfortable - in fact lots of the Trevor stuff did, like kidnapping people and dropping them off at the cult (I assuaged my guilt by breaking in and shooting all the cultists).
I don't think I'll get 100% completion - there's a lot of GTA quests I've let unfinished over the years. I'd love to do them but can't justify driving over the whole map searching for UFO and letter parts. I feel like there should be a way to shortcut those, but I guess they want to leave them in there for the really serious people to show their dedication.
SPOILER QUESTION:
is there a way to go back to the mission where, as Franklin, you have to make the choice about which character to kill?

yes you can by replaying the mission via the pause menu. It won't change the outcome of your original decision however. Spoiler:

Mine happens when you use a throwable item during the observatory mission. I just ended up shooting the van instead and it worked without crashing. I tried a few times with the throwables and sure enough, trying to throw c4 or a grenade or whatever to destroy the van or if I made Trevor throw something then the game would crash.
Since clearing that mission I've not had any trouble throwing items so I wonder if it's just some random bug? I'm not running any mods at all. I know YEEEEARS ago games would b**** if you had development tools installed but all I got is VC++ express so I doubt it's chucking a fit over that.

Getting about 90 fps on my GTX770/i5 750 @4gig/8GB RAM so I locked it to 60hz refresh but it keeps resetting on alt-tab?
Also game chugs the memory? When I am alttabbed everything is laggy as f***. typing this message massive delay between keyboard and screen.
