Tekken 8 has been officially revealed, with the next entry in the iconic fighting game series coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC sometime in the future. No release date or window was provided but we got an impressive real-time showing from Bandai Namco Studio during the PlayStation State of Play presentation today.
With Katsuhiro Harada, Executive Producer and Director, Bandai Namco Studio going into detail about how everything you see is from the game and running on PlayStation 5 hardware.
"This trailer was actually taken directly from a certain part in the current work-in-progress Tekken 8’s story mode, played on PlayStation 5," Katsuhiro Harada writes. "In other words, all the character models, backgrounds, and effects are the same ones that are used in-game. Although this was captured from the story mode, it is not a pre-rendered movie made for the trailer but rather real-time rendered footage, running at 60 frames per second, similar to how you would experience the game in versus battle modes."
This trailer highlights a story mode showdown between Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama and the level of detail is impressive, you can see water droplets run down skin. With dynamic waves and tornadoes visible in the background and all sorts of crazy lighting and animation. These "battle stage effects" are being worked on as we speak, with the team adding more detail all the time.
