Although the development arm is hard at work on Dying Light 2, Techland Publishing is set to release a charming new indie later this year from Barcelona-based studio Piccolo called Arise: A Simple Story. Out December 3 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (via the Epic Games Store) - the debut trailer can be seen after the jump.

With the journey beginning as one life ends.


Arise is an emotional journey through the bittersweet lives of two people where memories come alive and time bends to your will. Lose yourself in moments of happiness and overcome every hardship as you relive your life’s story. A story of joy and sorrow. A simple story.

Visually it looks wonderful, with an art style that sells the not-quite-real afterlife setting.
