So, it turns out our awesome friends over at Blizzard Entertainment Australia think you're a bit awesome too, and want you to have a crack at their awesome action-RPG coming this year, Diablo III (you may have heard of it). Awesome, right!?
So it's pretty easy, we have 125 keys to give away, and all you need to do is sign up to be an AusGamers site member (free, and super easy. Also, spam-free). And that's it. No entry mechanic, no test of 50 words-or-less skill, just first in, best dressed. And you'll get a key to smash through the beta, and the resmash it with friends, then other characters, then with other characters with friends and... well you get the idea.
Click here to get in on this bad-boy!
Update 20:05 AEDT: Sorry, but we're now out of keys! That didn't take long. I guess there's a few people that are vaguely interested in this game or something? Stay tuned to this channel for more at a later date.

Today was a great day to visit. Much <3 to AG for this.
Also, I was on AG, went to take a dump, came back, hit refresh and BAM, the article had just been loaded on front page. Managed to get a couple mates to the site in time for keys as well. Had I not gone to take a dump, I would've checked the threads and left site, missing out on keys.
tl;dr Taking a dump allowed my friends and I to play Diablo 3.

Yeah, I'm like that too. I don't see the big fascination with beta testing something when you know you'll be playing the full game when it comes out. Sorta ruins it.
Posted 04:13pm 18/2/12
Go into your D3 folder and remove the MPQ directory and put it somewhere else. Load up the launcher and then turn OFF p2p downloading. Quit the launcher and move the mpq directory back how it was. For some reason it turns on p2p while you play if you leave this option on and totally clogs up your upload. Stupid friggen thing. Solid 250ms now so...

Spoiler:
Leah is the daughter of the warrior in Diablo 1. Which means I suppose all those times we went to Adria for potions we were getting some on the side as well and just never saw.
This sure makes the return of diablo quite interesting since he is responsible for killing/inhabitting him.

EDIT - Also runes kick f*****g arse. Tried a barbarian out and not only did that class feel the most powerful with it's awesome, bonecrunching sound effects, but slotting a rune in the cleave ability made it like a lawnmower over grass. Same for sorcerer's shock pulse ability. The rune makes anyone killed by it blow up for 70% weapon damage within 10 yards. So with 1 death you can set off a chain reaction and slaughter everyone.

The skills are cool, I played Witch Doctor and Wizard, very combustion-y and the Witch Doctor was a heap of fun with the toad plague, was spamming it and annoying my friends. Overall though, Diablo III is a very streamlined, casual based ARPG, without the real RPG elements. Blizzard have made a nice game, but it lacks what Diablo really was. No scrolls of town portal or identify, I never once used a potion due to regen health or the orbs that drop on the ground. Skills are unlocked by level now and there is no skill tree or anything like that.
Attributes are all locked down to just stats on gear, so no changing there. Guess they wanted to eliminate the "oops screwed that character time to re-roll" from Diablo 1 and 2. However I think that's what made Diablo, and made everyone figure out different builds etc. This just feels like a faceroll in comparison, with no real thought put into what skills to use.
Everyone will eventually just use the same skills as I figured out while playing Witch Doctor. Never used the toads after I tried them once, due to how crap they were, as with the spiders. Just used the crypt of the dead or something that lays a AoE on the ground. Then I just used my default missile thing, and a fear with summoning dead dogs.
All in all, if this was a free game, would be perfect, due to how lacking customisation is besides gear. But to be paying for it, sure you'd get your moneys worth from the story, but you'd feel cheated due to how restrictive it is.
Also, my opinion. All of this.
Edit- Oh yeah the "elective" mode doesn't actually change anything. Just lets you set your mouse/keyboard shortcuts to spells outside of the categories. So say I can have my skill that is usually assigned to 1 to go to right mouse button.

EdiT: It would have been done already but it turns out my external USB drive decided to pick tonight to throw in the towel on the partition so I've got the exciting job of data recovery to look forward to. I'm using a usb stick to copy Diablo 3 and it is USB 1.slow

Well, firstly, I don't think Diablo has ever pretended to be an RPG, its a dungeon-crawling hack and slash game. But what exactly don't people like about the skills and runes? I keep seeing people complain about it, but the complaints only ever seem to amount to "this sucks", so can someone expand upon that? I'm genuinely interested, cos I quite like the skills and runes system, feels like it has a lot more freedom than D2 did with being able to swap new skills in and out at will, and now with the runes being part of the skill system instead of loot drops that you have to collect and fill your bag up with, it should make for many, many more options of skill/rune combinations later in the game.
People whinged when WoW simplified its talents as well, complaining that it took away choice and freedom, but it was only ever false freedom anyway because there was always the best builds or cookie cutter builds that would get used anyway, and if you deviated from that you'd just be gimped compared to other characters. So all that so called freedom offered was the opportunity to trap new players into gimping their characters and enjoying the game less. People talk about experimentation and finding the best builds, but thats bulls***, that doesn't happen. What happens is you either go online and read a website that tells you where to put your points, or you f*** it up and gimp your character THEN go online and read a website that tells you where to put your points.
Putting points into your abilities as you levelled up wasn't really choice in D2 and wasn't really freedom since there was always right places to put them and wrong places to put them, and if you didn't put them in the right place then you'd end up with a sub-par character. So it just became a mechanical process of clicking the most optimal button each level to put the ability points in the most optimal place, all they've done is removed the need for you to do that manually and its now done automatically behind the scenes.
All the stuff I see people whinging about, is stuff I'm happy to see gone. Carrying around town portal scrolls and identify scrolls was just a chore, so I'm happy to see those gone. Chugging potions was lame gameplay, so I'm happy to see it made more dynamic with the orbs, and more strategic with the cooldown on pots (as well as pots stacking so my inventory doesn't end up full of them). Skill trees were in the same category of fake freedom/choice as the ability points, since there was always optimal builds that people would just use anyway, and skills were still unlocked by level its just you had to spend points to get them or make them better as you levelled up. Now you don't have to spend points to get them, you just get them as you level, and you don't have to spend points to make them better because they just get better as you level, but you're still able to make a tonne of different builds and when you factor in runes, I would imagine many more different builds than you ever could in D2.
You don't have all the other runes yet though that you will learn on the way to level 60, who knows how that could change your abilities, or even what other abilities you will learn as you go that may synergise well with toads or spiders, or other abilities that you learn that when runed will work well with a runed version of toads, etc, etc. You can't make statements about a certain ability being useless when you're only looking at a tiny slice of the pie.
if tl;dr then in summary, D3 is exactly what I wanted and expected from the evolution of the Diablo brand, and imo it seems like a lot of the whinging is from people who are looking back with rose coloured glasses and just want D2 reskinned.

Its sposed to let you put any skill in any slot, I thought thats what people were complaining about cos thats what changed in the latest patch, but maybe I was wrong. Or maybe its not working.

Great keyboard, very responsive, a good amount of macros keys, has media keys and volume control on the keyboard, I've got a few apps for the screen (teamspeak, coretemp, media viewer) and it's just a really good keyboard.
Khel, I know it's never been a full RPG, and I shouldn't have really said that part, but still, it's elements of a RPG, i.e the skill choosing that Diablo 1 and 2 had is pretty much non-existent now. Everyone gets the same skills in each class, so there is no real difference now. I know that there were cookie cutter builds in D1 and D2, but the choices were still there, so you could always be different to another Barbarian.
This new system doesn't suck, it's quite nice to be able to switch on the fly, but from what I got out of the beta, the choice is pretty simple, especially with Witch Doctor's runes. I don't think I'd be switching from the very first rune for a few of my skills, and the incentive is really just in levelling now, which I really hate.
So the choices are now restricted to having to level up to see everything, instead of the old system where collection of runes, albeit annoying at times, made you go and explore. I don't know, to me it just feels to restricted into "do this build because it's really the only thing you can do because your only level 17".
This game is great, don't get me wrong, it's just some of these choices feel to me, that they are simplifying things for no real reason other then to try and be different. I know it's only beta and we only got to level 13, but then again, maybe I am being all rose-tinted.
Posted 12:01pm 21/2/12
(I haven't yet and agree that its a bit constricting)
Posted 12:12pm 21/2/12
I guess I can see how some people who were massive fans of D2 might not want things to change, the same way some people couldn't get over the fact that Fallout 3 didn't play like Fallout 2, but personally I think its an improvement and a step forward. The way I look at it is you get the same end result (a customised build made out of 9 or so different active and passive skills), with many more options than D2 had for different skills (when you factor in runes), with none of the time-wasting, un-necessary micro-management s***. Diablo for me has always been about the dungeon crawling and the loot and the f*****g up of s***, so anything that minimises the annoying bits and maximises the opportunity to f*** things up and rape them for loot has my support.
Posted 12:14pm 21/2/12
Yeh I agree, but I don't like the (apparent) idea that you can only choose certain skills in combination, ie some skills you can't have active at the same time as others.
Posted 12:18pm 21/2/12
Maybe with more playthroughs I'll get use to it, but hopefully it doesn't just turn into level grinding just to get a certain ability/rune to make your character feel better. Other then the skill/rune system, I've enjoyed everything else immensely, especially the blacksmithing part.
Posted 12:37pm 21/2/12
Confused a little by this - does it mean that you can activate any combination of skills (to your active skill cap) or not?
Before B13 you could activate up to X number of skills, and you could choose any of your unlocked skills to make up the X. Does elective mode not provide this ability?

Posted 01:22pm 21/2/12
The skill limitation thing is really just a refinement of the old D2 system when you think about it.
I much, much, much prefer it to adding 12 points to fireball or chain lightning. You could only have a handful of truly useful offensive skills at any time anyway.
Posted 01:29pm 21/2/12
f*** oath, added absolutely nothing to do the game
i agree mostly with what khel said, i loved the skill system before the latest patch in this beta.
this new system basically removes the skill tree/point whoring until you reached a certain level crap that you did in diablo 2 so you could get that certain build
i don't like how they have compartmentalised the skills with this brand new system in this latest patch, i was constantly swapping skills between keys and mouse buttons before trying out new combos and shiz i don't want the skills that are locked away to the number 1 spot to be only used with that button.
maybe it is a way of equalising the characters somewhat, either way it is fairly lame and i doubt it will last
i always made the same necro in diablo 2 that suited what i wanted. you can do that now without all the fluff
i ticked that last night and it didn't do anything, maybe i had to restart the game or something?

No, there is essentially no skill points, you unlock skills at levels, think World of Warcraft.
Posted 01:45pm 21/2/12
At any time you can change skills, there's just a 30s (?) cooldown on the new active skill.
Well that's done it.
Its really not a lot like WoW ><

Posted 01:51pm 21/2/12
Ah, not sure then, thats what its *supposed* to do, but tbh I haven't tried it myself yet, I was just going by what the Diablo 3 developer guy posted in his update. Maybe its bugged or not working (or yeah, maybe it requires a restart).
But you can only have a limited number of them slotted at any one time. So you only have six slots for active skills and 3 slots for passive skills, and thats where your "build" comes from, choosing which combination of skills you'll have active. Then you can slot runes into the skills, which change the skill, so each skill can potentially be 4 or 5 different skills (some change more than others).
Posted 02:01pm 21/2/12
yep
it's really awesome tbh, it just opens everything up and you can play whatever style you want with a character
you will find what combo of skills you prefer to use pretty easily
Posted 02:13pm 21/2/12
There is just enough D2 style in it, with enough of the decent WOW elements.
All my performance issues are over now (Let the download complete before playing), and the game runs really well. I get a little annoyed at some of the jaggies on the edges of the characters (Even with forced AA and V sync) but then I load D2 up and remember the s*** back then and how fun it was.
The skills system is great and I really think with runes, passives etc we will be able to customize our characters with exactly how we like to play. Meanwhile that is without even thinking about gear that may add to skills Ie. D2 runewords etc.
The first level has felt a little bit linear, but I am sure that will open up. I kind of like how it doesn't load you up with 10 + quests at once. Dialogue is great and easily skipped without loosing anything. Cut scenes are kind of a bit dodgey, (Deckard Cain vs Skeleton King - Boring) but it doesnt really mean anything.
Heals - zomg, if anything was missing from D2 it was heals. (Paladins - Holy shock doesnt count). My monk has heals and I loose f*** all DPS while topping the group. I think with heals it will let the encounters be much more strategic with positioning a vital part.
Going to try witch doctor tonight.
Posted 02:23pm 21/2/12
EDIT - Oh and while I do like the idea of some random layouts for maps and some not, I just wish things were a bit darker, like when you first drop into tristiam church. Should play with gamma a bit to make it less light showy.

i played through with him first up because he was the character i had picked out ages ago as the one i would probably use most and he f*****g kicks ass
started a barb last night, not bad - typical barb/warrior style of play that has never interested me right from Diablo 1
i also started a demon hunter last night before it stopped letting me play with him for some reason, not sure about it i would need to see more of the skills - duel weilding crossbows is pretty badass though
unfortunately i've only been able to play the barb/demon hunter with the new crippled (imo) skill system

See, this just f**** me off. Why is there ANY WOW elements in it at all? It's Diablo. Not Warcraft.
I know I haven't played this yet and spewing that I didn't get in on the first round of invites, though from the screenies + videos + comments in here - to me it just looks like a severely dumbed down diablo clone which lacks atmosphere due to the wow cartoon engine.
Someone please tell me I'm wrong and I need to play it to think otherwise.

Back in D2 we used SOJ and runes as currency which was fun, but I think a universal currency works a lot better. They have also streamlined the skill system so it kind of is like WOW where u learn skills as you level up, but the way you use them is completely different.
Im sure you will be more that happy once you play it.
Posted 03:37pm 21/2/12
The same thing happens in music bands. ie. Corey Taylor(slipknot/stone sour).
Two completely different bands but once Stone sour came out he took too much of the Stone sour style of music and implemented it into Slipknot. Slipknot is the band that he is able to scream his lungs out while SS is he way of singing more.
WOW = cartoon
Diablo = Dark/Gothic

I think the game looks like it was set in darkshire which I don't exactly agree with but we've only seen a fraction of even the first area. Main areas they need to tone down the colour in is the underground levels like the church. If you are lucky enough to get the Underground Cave entrance in 1 of your games that is an interesting area to see. Not only are there 2 levels that end with a bright arse gold chest, but you also see some monsters you don't see anywhere else in the beta.

People playing the beta and b****ing about problems is pretty much exactly the point of the beta!
For what its worth, I'd guess around 40-50% of the keys we gave out went to new signups. We don't care about new people signing up much - increasing our member base isn't that useful to us just as a number. What we DO care about is people participating in the ecosystem of the site - talking on the forum, meta-reviewing games in game reviews, all that sort of stuff.
So our regular users are valued more and thus we like to make sure they get first access to the GOOD STUFF.

Posted 11:26am 22/2/12
Posted 11:40am 22/2/12
There was a known issue update for 21/2/2012 and the 315300 error was not mentioned at all. There has been no comment from Blizzard about it.
I get that it is a beta and there are issues, the 315300 error is on of them, however the lack of acknowledgement about it is a tad concerning.
I went from a "I'm defiantly buying this" to "I'll wait and see" because of the lack of response (not the error itself, beta s*** happens). If they don't respond to such a large issue now, will they respond when it goes live?
Posted 11:42am 22/2/12
I'm just more disappointed that people (on official forums) that have no idea about the Diablo franchise and the fact it's a beta ( a tiny tiny portion of the game) get to play the game and whinge that there's no customization and how linear it is or short it is considering we haven't seen 95% of the game.
Whatever
Posted 11:46am 22/2/12
They've got a large number of new people who have joined the beta, the servers are being stress tested out the whazoo -- its been largely unavailable since B13, even if you can log in.
They likely just don't have the time (or inclination) to have a CM personally report on every issue they are tracking.
Posted 11:56am 22/2/12
Pretty sure you'll find a majority of those players who are on the Diablo 3 forums actually have played the previous titles, and are just vocalising their opinion. Just like how your giving us your opinion, everyone has the right to give data back, that's what a beta is for.
Posted 12:13pm 22/2/12
But people are never going to take that for an excuse, are they. :)
Oddly, I haven't had a single issue with the patch (coming up from beta 12).
I don't have a real issue with the change to runes (farming for runes was a total pain in the arse), or indeed the ever-increasing "it's ok if you f*** up your build" approach - it means you can spend more time killing and looting, and less time agonising over the expenditure of points, knowing that if you make a mistake you can switch back.
That said, the Skills/Runes UI changes are rather clunky, and the removal of the small skill change panels from Beta 12 is unfortunate. Plus, it appears that despite having Elective Mode, you cannot assign any ability to your mouse buttons (or even just plain old weapon use). No doubt these oversights will be restored for Beta 14.
The game still plays like Diablo. I'm just not sure what kind of game people were looking for...Diablo 2 with newer graphics?
Posted 12:17pm 22/2/12
And you wanted new members.
Posted 12:24pm 22/2/12
Obviously you should just ignore people who don't understand what a beta is and their dumb comments like "omg the game is only 30 minutes long that sux!!!111oneone". They're clueless, and safe to ignore.
I haven't played the beta myself (I have PTSD from trying to play Doom while friends were playing Diablo near by and the clicking noises driving me to distraction), but if its anything like the SC2 beta I would say it is going to be broadly representative of the type of game D3 is shaping up to be. The positive comments I've read here are enough to make me think it is just going to be your typical, run of the mill, smash hit on PC.
So I wouldn't let a few negative nellies on the official forums spoil your day - if that is indeed your complaint...?
Posted 12:25pm 22/2/12
It seems all you wanted was a beta key, and to project your opinions onto other people, without wanting any kind of discussion.
This beta is just that, a beta. You will get people arguing over details, complaining about certain things not working for them or changes being to drastic. That's what happens, it's just the way these things go. If you can't handle a bit of negative feedback on a game that you obviously enjoy and like a lot, then you are clearly in the wrong place, as these are forums, somewhere to discuss things.
Posted 12:26pm 22/2/12
creepy, the elective option does work it is just really unintuitive. When you click to change a skill there are arrows pointing either way at the top of the skill panel thing, you can scroll through all of the skills for each spot if you have elective mode on

Posted 12:29pm 22/2/12

That would explain why, after enabling it on one toon, the other didn't get the arrows (when trying to adjust a mouse setup, that was unchanged on the first character).
Tsk.

Your second post was whining about all the whining on these forums.
Your third post was telling us what we do/don't do and that we're stupid.
Your fourth post was more whining about all the whining on the official forums. Saying people playing the beta don't know anything about the Diablo franchise.
Your fifth post was (seemingly) a complaint about these forums, then an incorrect statement.
Then your sixth post was telling us there is no discussion (amongst other people discussing the beta/changes), that we're all idiots, that you only have posted facts (HA!) and that you would enjoy the release more than the beta... which you're whining about other people being able to play.
And you think we have our heads up our asses?

First post wasn't a whinge
I said I haven't discussed anything because I'm 2 busy being attacked for making a simple comment.
All I've tried to say its that it's disappointing to see so many people in the beta complain about stupid s*** ( official forums) and none of you seem to be able to handle that even though you don't frequent that forum.
Trog just delete my account and be done with it, no point being part of a forum that attack you at the most trivial comment then make out like I have the problem.
Posted 01:37pm 22/2/12
Read again, nobody is attacking you ... and you haven't been here anywhere near as long as you say if you really think they are.
Posted 01:38pm 22/2/12
Back onto the discussion, for the guys in the beta, how would you rate it?
Posted 01:40pm 22/2/12
Then we'll make a new d3 beta thread? I can't see AGN banning the topic after giving out 125 keys, and I can't see a post that would warrant it anyway.
Posted 01:51pm 22/2/12
I feel like there is going to be a lot of things added to this game that I wont really get into though. RL Auction and a Mass of different Achievements (which I'll never bother with) are two at the top of that list.
I think WD is overpowered at the moment, but that could change as characters (and mobs) level, but from playing though the beta I think it needs to be nerfed a little. (Loved playing it though.) I'm usually an up-close and personal player so I thought I would really enjoy Bard (as I have in other iterations of Diablo and other games) and while flinging guys accross the screen was great, the novilty wore off fairly quickly and I went back to mucking around on WD.
Haven't done much with the other characters yet, won't have time tonight to play them and heading away for the weekend... but I plan to make a run through with the Monk tomorrow night.
Overall at the moment... 7/10 Keeping in mind that this is a rating for the beta. If they fix the issues that some of the people are discussing here, and on the official forums, I think it could easly push 9/10 (Or in AusGamers speak, 9.8/10)
I think d^ was talking about nuking any posts from, or in reply to, Chip. Not the entire thread.
Edit: Nope he said thread. Maybe posts was what he meant though.
Posted 01:58pm 22/2/12
more uniques and bigger mobs around, those guys that pop out of the walls and raise skeletons in the cathedral are harder
i have played the WD pre latest patch and the barb since patching, love the witch doctor and the barb is the barb, if you like the bashing type character there is no shortage of that on offer. i really like the fury system for the barb rather than mana
i think the whole thing we're missing that we'll see in later parts of the game when it gets harder is that the combat system is geared to be a lot faster paced than previous diablo games, the health globes that you pick up during combat give me that feeling as well as the fury system with the barb potentially lets you just keep swinging your fury generating skill and then smashing s*** with your other skills continously.
i instantly noticed how fast the mana regenerates for the witch doctor, some skills i couldn't even get it to register on the mana ball because it regenerates so quickly
it is all geared for much bigger/harder groups of enemies that will balance out the health globes that drop, and you will find yourself hoping they drop so you don't die
Posted 02:06pm 22/2/12
It's a good game. Just they need to really pull their heads in and figure out where they want to be with the skills and runes. The new updates nice, and yeah it makes things simple, but maybe to simple. I don't feel like my choices have much action like D1 and D2 did, where choosing that skill was like OMG AWESOME. Now it's just "meh, have to get it anyway due to being tied into levelling".
I'll definitely be buying it, but probably cheap if I can. It's missing that feeling that Diablo 1 and 2 gave me, and that I found Torchlight re-ignited. Also the difficulty is pretty meh as well, though it is really just the starting area, and thus more tutorial like. Hopefully we can get more quests going then just one central one. Also found that having the 4 party doesn't really make it as difficult, in the Cathedral we split up and just went our own way exploring, and never once dipped my health.
Posted 02:06pm 22/2/12
Its funny that you immediately assume nobody here reads the official forums, but even that aside, there has been idiots that complain about stupid s*** in betas for as long as public beta tests have existed. Don't need to read any forums to understand that, but I think what most people don't understand is why you take it so personally.
Posted 02:10pm 22/2/12
Yeah, I noticed that too. I haven't played any multiplayer games since the patch, but the few I played pre-patch, everyone just split up and went their own ways and nobody ever got in trouble. Got the message about the game getting harder as more people joined, but yeah, it didn't seem to be very significant.
I really hope that changes, I want the difficulty to ramp up to the point where if you go off by yourself, you're an idiot and you're as good as dead. I want them to really encourage working as a group.
Posted 02:21pm 22/2/12
I'd reckon that this will be the case in the higher diff settings, I don't expect that at level 8 you'll get wtfsmashed by anything ever.
Posted 02:31pm 22/2/12
I can understand that, and I guess that's why I'm hoping they either extend the beta area, or at least give us harder difficulties for the beta. I actually was under the assumption as soon as you finish a questline you can change difficulties, but that might be having to finish the act?
Posted 02:33pm 22/2/12
Posted 02:42pm 22/2/12
there is no way a level 13 character is going to survive full blow nightmare mode
you're getting ahead of yourself i think
Posted 02:52pm 22/2/12
I know that in Diablo 1 and 2 you had to finish the entire game before re-playing on a higher difficulty, but from the user interface when choosing a character and quest line, it led me to believe it was changed.
Posted 02:54pm 22/2/12
Posted 10:19pm 22/2/12
they would have to set some intermediate thing so you could keep leveling at a similar rate and yeah it would be completely stupid really
because you couldnt finish that first bit then flick it straight onto the next difficulty because youre usually level 30ish by the time you get back to act 1 in nightmare
just sounds like whinging about a beta test really `oh hurrr its only 30 mins long`

For those with fingers too fat to click on links, a list of "concerns" people had when d2 was in development when compared to d1:
- What we fight outside? What is this crap!?
- What is this stupid skill tree? You mean I have to be a sorceress to use fireball? My warrior class cant use it?
- Why is it so bright and colorful?
- Wait...I cant just open a TP and instakill someone? I have to give them warning?
- I cant dupe anything I want at will? Boring
- I cant max out my stats with elixirs? But that was such a fun goal
- Where's my clickable cow...
- You removed apoc? Man you guys are no fun
- All potions dont insta heal you?
- You guys are catering to carebears...
- Way to take away everything that made diablo, diablo
- Just release the game already. You can patch it up later

yeah the spell book system was kind of cool, but kind of retarded that the warrior could pretty much use every spell if you pumped enough into the right stats

cry
Posted 09:50pm 23/2/12
I'm downloading for PC first, it's just about done, I'll download it for my laptop afterwards. Only the 2011 13" so will be interesting to see how it goes with the Intel HD3000 graphics.

clickclickclickclickclickclickclickclick. click. click click. CLICK CLICK. CLICK. CLIICCCCCCCCCCK.
I am not looking forward to D3 because I know everyone in the office will be playing it and I will want to cry ALL THE TIME. It's that really high pitched sort of noise that even headphones and loud music won't drown out.

er the keys they gave out today were initially only available to those that had been a ausgamers member for over a year and had posted recently.

What about the first batch? Anyway. I don't qualify. I wasn't around for the LANS. Hopefully all the keys went to members who deserve them.

b) chances are good you would have missed out anyway because so many people want them
c) as we have said a million times everywhere, we will have more keys next week
d) the b****ing is really irritating because we explicitly went out of our way to try to make sure regulars had more of a chance than noobs. In fact we went to a lot of extra effort. If we just opened it up so it was a free for all I can guarantee that a f***load more regulars would not have a key at all because so many new people have signed up in the last ~2 weeks.
I appreciate the frustration, but we have a VERY limited # of keys to give out, everyone in the WORLD wants one, we have to do stuff in a certain way to make Blizzard happy, and some people will unfortunately give out. I would love nothing more than to give everyone what they want all the time, but unfortunately it's just not possible and we have to compromise.
Sorry, but we have plenty more keys coming over the next two weeks and we're simply going to have to settle for not making everyone happy.
Thanks for the kind words from those that got one and bothered to say thanks :)
We'll make sure the next giveaway is more clearly defined to avoid disappointment from people who miss out - and I'll see if we can do it after hours as well so the people at work get don't get screwed again. Unfortunately I'm away for two weeks as of Saturday so will have to leave to the good graces of Steve to see if he can do after hours!

In other news, the runes are pretty sweet, and the game seems a fair bit more polished now. (I haven't played since beta 11) It seems to be coming along well.

Went on a co-op rampage with a random up to about level 9 and found it quite fun and not really as tedious as I thought it would be with the picking up the loot etc, seems quite streamline and quick.
I'm not sure about the graphics though, I have everything maxed out but the colors and detail still look washed out and dull. I'm sure it's meant to look sharper or something. I can imagine at the higher levels there's gonna be some serious carnage.
Whens the release date?

Might want to have some co-op action on sunday after Soundwave if anyone is keen.

The monk seems really weak in the beta but with a fairly easy to manage 100% uptime of 42% dodge and 30% extra chance to miss with flash it might shine in harder difficulties. Lacks the AE dmg of other classes (as does the demon hunter)
Most fun is either Wizard (massive ae dmg, most of anyone in the beta easily) barb or with doctor - think ill be playing a witch doctor first on release. Best balance of fun and effectiveness I reckon.
