With the makers of the DIRT series and other racing titles now a part of the 2K family with
Take-Two Interactive formally announcing that it is acquiring
Codemasters. The news drops just as Codemasters shipped its latest racing game with DIRT 5 - which takes full advantage of next-gen features on the Xbox Series X.
“We are exceedingly pleased to announce this recommended transaction with the Board of Codemasters," said Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two. “Codemasters has a renowned history of creating some of our industry's most beloved and commercially successful racing franchises, and we believe that their offerings will be highly complementary to our sports portfolio and enhance further our organization's long-term growth."
As per the statement above, the reasoning makes sense with Take-Two and the 2K brand being one of the most prominent in the sports field, where the addition of Codemasters will add the all important 'racing' tier of titles to the portfolio. Which means the addition of the annual F1 series, and more.
