Night Dive Studios is getting ready to launch the Kickstarter campaign for its ambitious System Shock Remastered project. But as the headline suggests, and with the scope of the project growing in recent months and the developer re-building the game from the ground up, it's now more of a reboot than remaster.

Speaking with Polygon, Night Dive CEO Stephen Kick explains,
"We felt that the amount of passion and resources that we are putting into this game elevated it beyond the expectations that someone would have for a remaster. This is a full-fledged reboot of a classic game into something new."

Which is fine by us, as we'd take a reboot or re-imagining over a remaster any day. The Kickstarter campaign for the project is due to launch on Wednesday and as part of the campaign people will be able to download a short demo for PC. Which should alleviate the naysayers and right off the bat elevate this project above other more high profile Kickstarter failures of late.

Be sure to head on over to Polygon if you want a sneak peak at some of the fantastic concept art and early screens from the System Shock project.

Faaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrkkk off.

I would be happy to support an indie remastering. But a reboot...

Can anyone name a game supported by kickstarter campaign that was a decent scale? Most successfully completed kickstarter campaigns for games were relatively small titles. This sounds huge undertaking. Something a f*****g company should be sponsoring.
