And that's digital stage with Nintendo once again set to broadcast its show plans via a special E3 Nintendo Direct. Of which we've been informed that the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch is set to be the focal point. And for good reason - Super Smash Bros. is awesome. And is still on track for a 2018 release.

Which means we can expect a full gameplay reveal in addition to a release date announcement. One question that will most certainly be answered will be if this is an entirely new entry in the series or a spruced up Wii U version along the lines of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. We only ask it because with the Switch, Nintendo has been unusually quick with stellar release after release - eschewing the usual drought between great games.

Nintendo's E3 presentation is scheduled to begin its stream at 2:00am AEST on Wednesday June 13 where following that Nintendo Treehouse: Live will then take over with three days of game streaming, interviews, and community engagement.

Those expecting a new look at the previously announced Metroid Prime may need to wait another year as Nintendo has also states that games launching beyond 2018 will be featured at a later date.

Nintendo's E3 site is also now live.
