As per
our interview with
Studio MDHR founders Chad and Jared Moldenhauer, celebrating the release of
Cuphead - The Delicious Last Course DLC, we asked them about what was next for the studio.
Where unsurprisingly, the team remains committed to using the detailed and meticulous style of animation found in Cuphead on whatever game comes next. That and another journey into the sort of fast-paced action found in games from the 1980s and early 1990s.
Here's that part of the interview.
As a studio are you planning for the next thing? You probably can't really talk specifics, but is it safe to say that the combination of traditional animation and videogames is something that Studio MDHR is going to continue doing?
Chad: Doing something in an animation style that feels more film-like, and putting it in a game with an ‘80s or ‘90s fast action feel will be there for the foreseeable future. We're already playing around with ideas and things now that we have space in our minds to think.
Jared: That's a hundred percent true, we’re finally free to explore more options and see what happens. But, there's no way we'll be turning our backs on 2D art.
Naturally, it might be a while before we see what's next for the team behind Cuphead. But no doubt once we do, we can all expect to be blown away once again.
