Pre-orders for the PC version of Capcom's Street Fighter X Tekken have opened up at a variety of online retailers today and the publisher's official Unity blog has a brief FAQ offering desktop gamers a few ideas on what to expect.

Unsurprisingly, much of the information is consistent with the treatment of the PC version of Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition and Street Fighter X Tekken PC will once again be using the oft-maligned Games for Windows Live solution to address its copy-protecting concerns.

On a brighter note however, they also confirm that a benchmarking tool will be made available and that its results will once again be used to assist multiplayer matchmaking. Nvidia 3D vision support also returns, and this time they promise greater support for a wider variety of controllers. Don't expect any DX11 niceties though, or anything else beyond higher resolutions and frame-rates over its console counterparts.

The FAQ also pays lip service to the on-disc DLC concerns that have plagued the game's console release. Seemingly missing the point however, they merely assert that downloadable content won't be distributed on the disc and that players will have to download it separately. Never mind that most players already know what content is complete from the console launch and after the delayed PC launch probably should be included in the initial purchase price as an act of good will.

The game is reportedly only getting a boxed release in Europe, and that doesn't appear to include ANZ at this time. However, the good news is that the digital versions of the game now available for pre-order don't presently appear to have an Australia-tax on them. So if you're keen, you can find it on Steam, Gamers Gate and GameFly at the moment (it doesn't seem to be on the AU Origin store yet) for US$44.95.

Street Fighter X Tekken for PC is due to launch on May 11th 2012. For our thoughts on the console version, hit up our in-depth review.
