Looks like Street Fighter V is getting its very own cinematic story mode filled with pre-rendered and real-time cutscenes. And based on the teaser trailer it looks suitably epic. Strange giant purple asteroids, Ryu doing his best serious face, M. Bison being all sinister, mysterious, and glowy-eyes. The only catch is that this mode won't be ready in time for launch and will be a free add-on coming in June. As for what's included when Street Fighter V launches next month? Well, Capcom has also released a new video covering all the game modes.
On the story front there will be a Character Story mode, one that gives each of the playable characters their own art-filled episode, serving as a way to learn how to play a particular style and also give you some clue as to why they want to punch and kick their opponents so badly. In addition to this mode the usual training, versus, and online modes are here, but expanded upon greatly. The online stuff comes in two flavours, the wonderfully titled 'Network Battle' which is where all the ranked and casual stuff happens, and the even better sounding 'Capcom Fighters Network' where you can watch live battles, replays, and view more statistics than you'd know what to do with.
Here's a video going through each of the modes.
And here's the teaser trailer for the cinematic story mode coming in June.
Street Fighter V is out February 16 on PlayStation 4 and PC.
