We now have a new release date for Bethesda Game Studios' Starfield, the long-awaited sci-fi RPG from the studio behind The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. And what're a few more extra words to wait? Okay, here we go. The release date is September 6, 2023, for Xbox Series X|S and PC. And we got a new trailer too.
This confirms that the dedicated Starfield showcase, the Starfield Direct, will take place on June 11, 2023 (or June 12 for us in Australia) - which will give us an in-depth look at the game just a few months out from release. This sounds like it'll coincide with Xbox's big E3-style showcase.
"We are so excited to finally tell you when Starfield is coming out this year, we have poured ourselves into this game," game director Todd Howard says. "There's so much that we still have to show you. The game has many of the hallmarks that you'd expect from us, but it's also a very unique experience."
Although this means Starfield won't be out in the "first half of 2023" as originally expected after its first delay, the September 6 release feels right. And at least for me, it means that Diablo 4 and Starfield won't be released back-to-back - so that's a plus.
