@NWPlayer123 uncovered a store listing for
Star Wars: Republic Commando, a 2005
LucasArts developed tactical-shooter released for the original Xbox and PC. With its story set during the Clone Wars it presents a Rainbow Six or SWAT-style experience set in the Star Wars universe.
The original Xbox version is currently playable on modern Xbox Oen and Xbox Series consoles via backwards compatibility so the title popping up on the Nintendo Switch isn't far-fetched.
And as per above, with the developer listed as Aspyr Media -- the team which recently brought
Star Wars Episode I: Racer to the Switch -- it all looks legit. As a game from 2005 though, the team will no doubt be updating the visuals for widescreen in addition to potentially improving performance and other elements. That said the Episode I: Racer re-release was pretty bare-bones so this might follow suit.
GAME TRIVIA - Did You Know?
The original
Star Wars first-person shooter,
Star Wars: Dark Forces, was released in 1995 at a time when new entries in the FPS genre were called 'Doom Clones' -- named as such after id Software's seminal 1993 hit. Except it rang a little truer here, as
LucasArts began developing Dark Forces after it saw mods for Doom that took players on board the Death Star.
