Called Resurrection, it will focus on Commander Iden Versio during the days of the First Order’s rise to power. The add-on is set to drop December 13 alongside a suite of free content including maps and heroes to mark the release of the new film 'The Last Jedi'. No word yet if the single-player DLC will fall under the same "every post-launch hero, map, ship, and weapon will be free for everyone who owns the game" banner.

But then again we wouldn't be upset if post-release single player content for Star Wars Battlefront II cost a few dollars.

Alongside the new content comes factions, where players will choose either the First Order or Resistance and take part in special challenges for faction rewards. This new feature also marks the start of seasonal content for the game with Season 1 'The Last Jedi Season' also bringing a new planetary map from the film 'Crait'.

It certainly sounds cool, and for more info head here.

I hears ya, but word from EA is that this is changing for the final release. In that they'll still be there but not pay to win... more play to earn better gear.

People who have obtained early copies for console are saying that the campaign isn't complete, ends on a cliffhanger, and seems like it will end up fairly episodic. Meaning the 'singleplayer DLC' is possibly just part of the campaign that should have shipped with the game.

'EA Access' subscribers have been able to play the game already and report that the hero characters like Vader and Luke are locked behind the progression system and require obscene amounts of grinding. On top of that, the heroes have their own sets of 'star cards' required to upgrade them to their full potential.

Contemplating a refund, which is a shame because I really enjoyed the beta.

EA responded on reddit.

The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking different heroes.

As for cost, we selected initial values based upon data from the Open Beta and other adjustments made to milestone rewards before launch. Among other things, we're looking at average per-player credit earn rates on a daily basis, and we'll be making constant adjustments to ensure that players have challenges that are compelling, rewarding, and of course attainable via gameplay.

We appreciate the candid feedback, and the passion the community has put forth around the current topics here on Reddit, our forums and across numerous social media outlets.

Our team will continue to make changes and monitor community feedback and update everyone as soon and as often as we can.

and one of the top responses:

I wonder if Burger King wants to sell me a sense of pride and accomplishment by making me work 10 hours for my f*****g fries.

The average age of gamers these days is in the 30s, do they honestly think people who are 30+ have that much time to grind s*** out? Ridiculous, they're just stacking the deck so more people will feel forced into microtransactions

Umm I think that's kind of the point.

For kids with no money, there's grinding.

For everyone else, there's MasterCard.
