During an interview with Star Trek: Bridge Crew lead designer Justin Achilli, we discovered that there'll be two game modes on offer: Campaign and what they're calling "Ongoing Voyages" mode, which is a 'sort of' procedural mode that will generate new and unique missions for you and your crew to partake in.
"So we have two different ways to play,” Achilli says, cutting my questioning off before I have a seizure with want-of-information overload. “There’s the Campaign mode (but we’re not talking about the size of the Campaign mode yet), and there is a story of the Aegis and your crew. Then separately there’s what [we’re] calling the “Ongoing Voyages”, and that’s a mission-generator type of thing where it will, according to a bunch of different parameters, give you a different mission every time.”
“This isn’t a procedural thing, is it?” I ask with nervousness. I certainly don’t want to be being handed ‘generic gas anomaly to investigate around, or near, wayward space station settlement on the edge of ’ with a handful of varying mission parameters.
“I wouldn’t say it’s entirely procedural, but it does mix and match from different columns of objectives, environments, races and those sorts of things,” he answers, not fully lifting my immediate concern. “But really there’s a huge amount of play that can come from it.
