With 3.45 million copies of
Splatoon 3 for Nintendo Switch sold in just three days, making it the fastest-selling game in Japan for the platform. Some publications are even reporting that this could be the fastest-selling game in the country ever, regardless of platform, which is pretty incredible.
Nintendo made the announcement overnight in a
new post. And this points to just how popular Splatoon is in Japan. Nintendo launched the first Splatoon game for the Wii U back in May 2015, which was followed up with Splatoon 2 game for the Nintendo Switch in July 2017. In many ways, the game is Nintendo's answer to the traditional multiplayer first-person shooter, as two teams of four battle it out in arenas, painting, and blasting each other in a vibrant world.
As the third game in the series, Splatoon 3 offers more multiplayer action and an expanded single-player mode. Plus, the promise of new content and support for years to come. We've been playing it quite a bit in recent days so stay tuned for our full review.
