Sony Reveals Full PlayStation 4 Specs, High-Res Photos Included

After finally showing off just what the PlayStation 4 will look like, Sony has officially unveiled the full technical specifications for their next-gen console, complete with its quite hefty 8GB GDDR5 RAM.

Sporting a single-chip, 8 core x86-64 AMD processor codenamed "Jaguar", the PlayStation 4 will come prepared with a number of next-gen features including 2x USB 3 ports, a AMN next-generation Radeon based graphics engine at 1.84 TFLOPS and a 500GB HDD. Luckily for those who think the 500GB storage isn't enough, you will be able to remove your hard drive and replace it with any other 3.5" one to your taste.

Interestingly, the EyeToy camera that Sony have developed will not be bundled with the product, instead sold separately. What does come inside the box on purchase though is the PlayStation 4 system, one wireless DualShock 4 controller, a HDMI cable, power cable, USB cable for charging the controller and for the first time a mono headset to plug into the controller.

Alongside the specifications listings Sony has also revealed a handful of new high-res photos detailing the new console design revealed yesterday, which you can check out below in all their glory.

The PlayStation 4 is expected to be released "this holiday season", which could be any time between October and December.

Is it just me or do two of the four photos above look like a perfect rectangle while the other two seem to be slanted?

that is correct, the bottom left photo is slanting towards you so you don't see it and the top right is taken on the right angle so the slant is not there and it just looks like it has the split down the side

So it really looks like the Xbone is going to bomb hard and that the PS4 will be the only proper console on the market at the end of its life cycle. Does this mean the market will be primed for a new contender to enter the market? I hope Google release a console :D

I doubt the XBone will bomb, just cos consumers in general are uneducated or just wont care about the issues and will follow the brand.

If I had to only buy one though, I'd definitely be going a PS4 at this point.

Yeah I will be picking up a PS4, if the Xbox One was compatible with 360 games I would probably consider the One even with all the DRM and Online issues.

is the PS4 capable of 120Hz if using a 120Hz monitor?? (and I'm not talking about FPS)..

I ask this cause I have a laptop that only outputs 60Hz max :(
