Sony has unveiled a new trailer showing off the PlayStation 4 interface, with a large emphasis on social interaction as soon as you turn the console on. Featuring an almost Metro-like style of squares and rectangles, the interface offers a broad glance at a number of social interests including friend posts, videos and news.
While not the most in-depth look at the interface, the trailer does show off several new features coming to the next-gen console, one of which is the ability to download either the single-player or multiplayer parts of a game separately. Also on offer is a re-designed user info screen complete with an overview of recent activities, trophy progression and general social aspects.
Those wondering how exactly you'll communicate online with friends will find a new message system similar to current IM style that uses the movement of the controller for selecting letters, plus the ability to utilise cross-over voice chat no matter the game you are in.
The PlayStation 4 will be available later this year during the "holiday season" at a price of $549. Check out the trailer below.

Also what kind of jerk agrees to get a game to play with his friend then just goes and calmly gets a drink from the kitchen instead of starting the download first?

aside from that, the interface looks quite alright!!

Excellent. So where in the menu can I turn off these useless and unwanted features so that they don't interefere with my gaming session?

Anyone who plays or puts an FPS on a console needs to be banned from gaming.

2.Choice is always a good thing. Arguing against an extra choice doesn't seem productive.
If the ps4 had full kb/m support I might actually consider buying one.

PS3 had it, and hopefully the PS4 does as well, I think i read somewhere it will be up to the developer to enable it though, can't quite remember

Few games on the ps3 supported kb/m as an input type afaik.
