With the PC debut of
God of War -
check out our full review - one of the most celebrated games of the past decade is finding a new audience. And a sizable one at that, with
Steam Charts highlighting over 70,000 concurrent players over the weekend. Which is good news for more
PlayStation titles making their way to PC.
In a new interview over
at Game Informer, Sony Santa Monica’s creative director Cory Barlog notes that bringing the game to PC was a case of Sony listening to its first-party studios.
"I think it was the collective of studios all over saying this is a really good idea," Cory notes. "We should be looking into this. Eventually, I think it reached that tipping point. When we had sent so many suggestion box suggestions that they were like, 'I’m tired of hearing all this. Fine, we’ll do this.'"
Cory adds that bringing PlayStation titles to PC (as we've seen with God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Days Gone) is still an evolving process and something "we’re still figuring out as a company and as individual studios". With the highly anticipated sequel
God of War Ragnarok set to launch sometime this year on PS4 and PS5 there's no word on whether it'll be PC-bound anytime soon. On that front Cory adds, "ultimately, it’s Sony’s decision".
