PAX Aus just got a little bigger. Four SMITE finalist teams will share in $65,000 of sweet Australian cash which, we're told, is the "largest single day event prize in Australian eSports history". The showdown for the popular free-to-play MOBA will take place on the 31st of October atop the PAX Aus ESL eSports stage.

While taking a share of the $65K is no small thing, the top team will also score a place at the SMITE World Championships in America. If they win that, they have a chance to walk away with a cool $1,000,000USD. With our exchange rate the way it is at the moment, that's closer to $1.5 million Aussie bucks.

The four top Oceania teams will be competing for the PAX prize and the chance to compete on the global stage. Avant Garde and Dire Wolves are representing the pole position and runner-ups, respectively, from the Pro League, while SYF Gaming and Ivory Gaming are the first and second place, respectively, from the Challenger Cup.

With that sort of money on the table, one thing's for sure: I should have spent less time going to university and more time honing my strategy skills.
