Continuing with the post-release support, Bethesda has announced a new patch for their latest addition to the Elder Scrolls series, Skyrim. Among the usual bug fixes are some new additions, including kill cameras for ranged and magic attacks as well as new melee kill moves.
From the memes to the mods to the amazing stories that continue to be told, we’ve been blown away by the continued community support for Skyrim. All of it has driven us to make the game even better, and we’re excited to start sharing news on upcoming features and content.
It all starts with our upcoming 1.5 title update – available now as a Beta Update on Steam and arriving soon for Xbox 360 and PS3. In the release notes below, you’ll notice we’ve not only made fixes to the game, but also introduced some new features. One of our favorite additions are the new kill cameras for ranged and magic attacks. Watch the video above for a sneak peek.
If you've been keeping a close eye on Skyrim in the past few months, you will have noticed these new additions are oddly familar, due in part to being featured as a concept in the Game Jam sizzle shown during Todd Howard's DICE Keynote.
Check out the trailer below which showcases the kill cameras and new melee kills, which will definitely make the game a lot more cooler when you can see that arrow to the knee (sorry, I couldn't resist). If your interested in checking out the 1.5 patch early, it's currently available as a beta update on Steam, which you can find instructions for over here, as well as the full patch notes.
Those long range archer shots are pretty rad, I remember being in the exact same situation with two followers for two different quests who kept dying, took so many attempts to keep them alive. That being said, there's kind of an extra element of fun in not knowing whether you've necessarily killed that person, and whether they're still around...
I pretty much did everything with sneaking and bows, so it was totally rad. Even after doing that all through thief, and morrowind, and possibly oblivion (TES4 is a bit of a repressed memory).
There is a video out of some guy using the new $900 sony head viewer thing, along with a microphone, kinect some form of webcam seemingly to allow him head tracking and full movement and voice controls. You sure look like a f*****g retard trying to play but cool none the less!
Yah i agree, its one of the things that made me lose interest... the combat. Needed some variety other than slash and power slash..
Totally, i played couple hours of Diablo 3 and realised how piss poor the combat was in Skyrim, dont think I have loaded up the game since. (That along with the dual wield weapon issues)
