Skull & Bones began development back in 2013, with the team behind the awesome pirates-on-the-high-seas stuff of
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag at the helm. Fast forward to 2020 and
it was announced that the game had been rebooted with "a new vision", and with Ubisoft Singapore still at the helm. As per the latest financial goings on at
Ubisoft we got word that development looks to have finally found calm waters.
Even though the holiday quarter of 2021 saw a sizable dip in revenue for Ubisoft - down 31% compared to the year of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Immortals Fenyx Rising, and Watch Dogs: Legion - January's Rainbow Six: Extraction will see the numbers rise in terms of comparison.
In terms of the next financial year Ubisoft CFO Frédérick Duguet name dropped a few key titles - the long-awaited Avatar game from Massive, the Mario+Rabbids sequel, and Skull & Bones. Where it seems Ubisoft is "very happy" with the development progress. And with that we should be getting our first look at the rebooted pirate adventure sometime this year.
