With Shenmue III still currently in development Sega has announced that the first two games in the beloved Dreamcast and OG Xbox franchise is coming back - to a PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or PC near you. The announcement came at the Sega Fes event in Japan and will feature "multiple screen resolution options". In other words, remastered in HD.
Though we're not sure as to what enhancements might be comping, if any, outside of widescreen 1080p output support. Hopefully some 4K action for the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.
As per the trailer above is certainly looks sharper and cleaner, much like my most recent play-through via Emulation. Before you judge, it was for science! Well, not really. It was so I could put together this sweet retrospective.
Both modern and classic controls are expected to be included alongside the option to play with either Japanese or English voices. Very cool. The Shenmue i & II remasters are expected to be released this winter, with Shenmue III still on track for a late 2018 release.
This seems to suggest Shenmue 3 will eventually release on the X1 platform, after the Sony timed exclusive expires - just like No Mans Sky and Hellblade.
