While we haven't seen much of the pot breaking, green cladded hero since Nintendo debuted him in HD on the Wii U last year, rumours have been flying around recently suggesting that we may be seeing Link sooner than expected.

According to WiiUDaily, an internal source has stated that a Zelda game is being expected for a 2014 release on the Wii U, and that it will be the largest Zelda game in the series. Currently all we have seen so far of any recent Zelda was the HD preview at last years E3, which showcased a very pretty looking Link fighting a very large spider.
“It’s a 4-year development cycle with a new console, new technology, new engine etc. It’ll end up being the most expensive game they’ve made to date. It’s a huge investment for them [Nintendo] in money and manpower, this is Rockstar/GTA territory”. Nintendo originally planned to release the game in Fall 2013 to strengthen the Wii U against the new consoles from Microsoft and Sony, but apparently that didn’t turn out to be realistic. “They targeted a 2013 release, but quickly abandoned that goal. This is the biggest project they’ve [Nintendo] ever done, no way is it gonna be ready for Q3 2013. At least from where I see it”.
Currently no official details have emerged from Nintendo as to whether this is pure rumour or not, but hopefully we will see some gameplay development soon to satisfy our long-awaited expectations.

Good to see good sense prevail - don't rush out an unfinished product, polish it to perfection.
