Sources over at our trusty pals Eurogamer are saying that the Nintendo Switch will have the ability to play GameCube games via its Virtual Console service. Three GameCube titles are said to be prepped in time for the Switch debut -- Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion and Super Smash Bros. Melee. The later of which may have been the catalyst for the GameCube support as its still a popular esports title.

GameCube support as part of Nintendo's Virtual Console services (which still require players to re-purchase titles from system to system) has been something that fans have wanted for a while. Its inclusion as part of the Nintendo Switch Virtual Console setup might also be due to the increased performance of the system, as the popular GameCube emulator Dolphin seems to run fine on Nvidia Tegra X1 mobile technology -- which Switch hardware has been based off of.

We'll probably find out about the Nintendo Switch Virtual Console offering's next month, where Nintendo has scheduled a Switch event in Melbourne.
