Contrary to earlier reports that suggested a delay until "early 2014" for the arrival of the PlayStation 4 in Europe, following the confirmed holiday 2013 window for US and Japan, a "company insider" allegedly
speaking to CVG hints that it might still arrive this year after all.
With Sony expecting Microsoft to tackle Europe more aggressively, CVG has heard from a company insider that PlayStation is "prepared to do whatever it takes" to ensure there is no PS4 delay across Europe.
It remains unclear whether there will be a PS4 supply shortage that would affect its output across any of the main three markets, but CVG understands that, if the launch stock is tight, the US and Europe will be the priority over the perceivably "safe" region of Japan.
As a fellow PAL territory, Sony's European movements have traditionally been closely tied to Australia, with most new PlayStation hardware and software arriving launching in AU on the same day as the UK. However, Sony has yet to announce any formal launch dates for the PlayStation console outside of the holiday 2013 window for Japan and North America.
