PC gamers have been loudly crossing their fingers for a PC outing for Rockstar's forthcoming GTA V. In the past, the series has usually made its way to the desktop platform, though often much later than its console counterparts, leaving many a PC gamer out in the cold. Moreover, given the smash hit Red Dead Redemption has not (and most likely will not) seen the light of day on PC, it's understandable PC peeps would be a tad worried about GTA V.

Thankfully Nvidia has actually let slip that a PC version of the game is coming, and rather than a bit later than console, it's alleged it'll be landing alongside the console release in our Spring (September 17).

"Gamers are preparing their systems for a strong roster of games coming this fall, including blockbuster franchises such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, Grand Theft Auto 5 and Assassin's Creed 4," said Nvidia's Chris Evenden during an earnings call (transcribed by Seeking Alpha).

Make of the slip what you will, but Nvidia does usually work closely with publishers and developers where PC releases are concerned and Rockstar has always been transparent about getting the most out of anything they actually do release on PC, so this sounds pretty good to us.

So, are you excited or just cautiously optimistic?

Why would they not be hyping a pc version if its landing with the console version?

Ahaha, this may cause a bit of an issue with trying to get customer to double dip into GTA 5, first buy it for their aging console, then buying the PC enhanced version.

For me at least, after reading that I wont be pre-ordering and will be holding off buying it. Hopefully the PC version will be cheaper too, console games have been rather pricey.

60FPS here we come.

Nah, they'll still get their double dip when they release an enhanced version for the next gen consoles.

The slip up surely is more of a confirmation on that's it's actually coming to PC, rather than the specific release date. Anything can happen on the development to push back a PC release, hence why they haven't officially announced it yet. It could be on target, but it's easier and higher priority for Rockstar to get the console version out the door before PC.

Yep.

I reckon there will be inevitable delays and it will be pushed back, maybe to xmas 2013 if they wanna try to jump on xmas sales.

I'll wait for the PC version regardless. Graphics are gonna be trash on the consoles anyway.

This is most excellent, if somewhat unsurprising, news. Just the mere thought of this makes me want to re-download GTA:SA for PC so I can muck around.
