Leaked images of the next upcoming Assassin’s Creed game have been released by Kotaku, and they appear to confirm a number of existing theories including the time period — 18th century Paris — and the name, Unity.

What is more interesting is that Kotaku's sources are claiming that Unity is only one of two Assassin's Creed games to come this year, with Unity set for current-gen consoles (PlayStation 4 and Xbox One) and one for last-gen consoles, currently codenamed “Comet”. It is unknown whether one or both are coming to PC, and sadly no confirmation for Wii U gamers.

You can see a small glimpse of the screenshots below, but be sure to check out the original Kotaku article for more. Of interest is the new "parkour" up and down buttons, which apparently point to a new navigation mechanic set to debut in Unity.

I didn't think we'd ever see an AC game set in France due to it being too alien to the American market, but this excites me. Hopefully it's set in Napoleonic times.

I'm guessing probably French Revolution if its 18th century, a little bit before Napolean was emperor, but still possibly have him in there in his early days like Washington was in AC3.

Sounds interesting, but I'm still waiting for them to follow through on that feudal japan concept they floated way back before AC3.

IIRC the Japan idea was just a dev's offhand comment when asked if he could set an AC game anywhere he wanted, though they did hint at feudal Japan in Black Flag's real world segments.

Hmm, looks like my wish from the AC3 thread might come true ..

Hrmm, I thought there was some concept art tossed around before AC3, when they showed a bunch of teases/options for what the next AC game would be and got people's feedback, but now I can't find any reference to that, so maybe I just got it all mixed up.

+1 to wanting AC Japan. In the 1st one some stuff scrawled on your cell / bedroom wall (that you could only see with assassin-o-vision) had to do with japan iirc

As for revolutionary France mmm it could be ok,, i guess? We have had a lot of European content,,, already but revolutionary France had a lot of interesting stuff going on but where are the war ships in Paris?

America has a lot of disdain for everyone else, but France is really the least loved country for them.

Mosfx, 4 is probably the best individual game in the series, though it's still easy as you please. Assassin's Creed is not about being challenged, it is about being cool and in 4, rollicking pirate adventures. If you wanted Sid Meier's Pirates! to be a bit more action oriented and serious you might enjoy it a lot.

Stupid americans don't have a built in hate for Italy like they do France, despite Italy actually being an enemy back in the day.

Yes.

And grab the Freedoms Cry DLC as it is also pretty good. Using a blunderbuss and machete makes for some pretty brutal combat.
