While the world waits to see what exactly Microsoft will be offering for their next-gen console, currently known as Durango, CVG are reporting that a recent rumour is suggesting that publisher giant EA has partnered up with the software and hardware giant.

According to the two anonymous sources the publishing giant has secured a partnership with the Xbox maker, however they weren't sure what exactly it was going to entail. Whether this means an outright exclusive title from EA on the next Xbox or simply exclusive DLC is yet unknown.

This however isn't the first we've seen of publishers pledging allegiance with a console maker, as we saw last week at the PlayStation 4 reveal with Activision announcing a key partnership with Sony, which resulted in exclusive add-on content for the upcoming current gen and next-gen title Destiny.

CVG has also revealed that such a deal may have been hinted at last Tuesday. Speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference, EA Chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen revealed that "It was more about timing of our own slate as well as trying to maintain a good balance of power with all the parties out there and choosing when to unveil certain pieces of software," when asked why EA wasn't at Sony's PlayStation Conference.

For now, rumours and speculation are all that we have while we count down the days until Microsoft officially reveals their next-gen console, which is rumoured to be sometime in April.

f*** me this could be bad news for a lot of games... battlefield4 and I assume a new bad company game with timed exclusive DLC like COD would be the worst.
