What was earlier reported as a rumour that Microsoft was planning a Halo 2 anniversary edition similar to what we saw with the Halo: Combat Evolved remake for Xbox 360, reports are now suggesting that the Xbox One will be getting all four of the previous primary Halo adventures this year with a bundle titled Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Engadget (which has a pretty good track record on rumour reporting) cites industry sources that claim the Master Chief Collection will launch ahead of the recently announced Halo 5: Guardians, but won't include remastered versions of Halo: ODST and Halo: Reach -- the adventures that featured alternate protagonists.
The game's developer is unknown at this point, but considering that Saber Interactive handled Combat Evolved Anniversary and is also working on an unannounced Xbox One project, the team is a likely suspect. Also unclear are plans for digital distribution, resolution and frame-rate (Microsoft bragged that that the next Halo will run at a "blistering" 60fps), piecemeal releases, or if the games will surface on other platforms as well (PC, anyone?).
The first 3 Halo games appeared on the Steam Database last year, but nothing ever came of that (which is unusual for SteamDB appearances) so perhaps that has something to do with this bundle also. Microsoft's E3 press conference seems like a likely reveal opportunity for it, so we'll have to wait and see.

Halo 2 and 3 on the Xbox One will be nice. Both classic games.
