It looks like the assassins are still causing trouble for Abstergo as some more information has leaked its way out of the upcoming Assassin's Creed: Unity. A reddit user that was reportedly verified as a beta tester for the game has spilled some inside information about some manner of challenge mode called Rifts that will run auxiliary to the game's already revealed campaign single-player and cooperative multiplayer modes.
Perhaps most interesting is that the leaker claims that the mode will feature several thematic areas outside of the game's French Revolution Parisian setting, each based on other prominent assassin characters from the franchise, and supposedly offering them as playable characters.
A leaked video shows the player performing some manner of time trial, collecting glyphs to preserve corrupting data or some such, but an alleged screenshot displays a list of familiar faces (assassins from previous games) that include Altair, Ezio, Haytham, and Edward as well as Aveline and Shao Jun -- those last two suggesting that the game may have playable female characters in some form after all.
The youtube video has since been removed, but VGLeaks
have preserved it. Take a closer look at the character page image below.
Assassin's Creed: Unity is due on October 28th 2014 on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4
