Rockstar being sued by a celebrity for having a character in one of its games because they looked like them is not that uncommon. There was that time a few years ago when Lindsey Lohan sued the developer over a character that appeared in Grand Theft Auto V. And now, Psychic Readers Network is suing the company because Auntie Poulet from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City kinda looks and sounds like U.S. TV psychic Miss Cleo.
Psychic Readers Network -- which holds the rights to Miss Cleo -- just filed suit against Rockstar Games and others who helped make and distribute the 'GTA' classic ... for allegedly jacking her image and Jamaican accent and slapping it on their character, Auntie Poulet.
In the suit, obtained by TMZ, PRN claims it's spent well over $100 million creating and promoting Miss Cleo's persona over the years, and that Rockstar and co. have gone on to make more than $500 mil exploiting it's character.
Which, sounds a bit steep. And a little late too. As Vice City came out all the way back in 2002. But as Rockstar hired the actress who used to play Miss Cleo, Youree Harris, the PRN feels that it has a case. In response Rockstar made the following statement, "These claims are entirely meritless and completely ridiculous. We will vigorously defend ourselves with regard to this matter."
