With fully customisable buttons, including a nifty left and right lean on the scroll wheel, and an industry-leading optical sensor, the Roccat Kone AIMO more than lives up to the device’s 10-year history. For gamers it’s a great all-rounder, feeling both natural and offering customisation options that make great use of its ergonomics.
The Roccat Owl-Eye optical sensor in the Kone AIMO is great no doubt (and based on the well-known PixArt line) and being able to fine-tune the DPI polling and other settings mean that nailing the right feel for both games and general PC use is a breeze. As mentioned in the introduction the left and right lean buttons part of the scroll wheel is a great touch, offering quick and easy access to those actual in-game movements in a natural way. In fact, a lot of the pre-mapped functionality on the Kone AIMO is impressive. The shift-button located on the thumb rest gives you audio controls via the scroll wheel and adjacent buttons out of the box, which is something that we didn’t even know we needed.
