The forthcoming Rise of the Triad Remake aims to be a faithful rendition of the classic Apogee shooter in as many ways as possible, retaining the frantic pace of the original in a market full of slow-moving games, recreating familiar levels with a contemporary sheen, and overhauling the iconic midi soundtrack.
The latest developer diary from Interceptor Entertainment discusses the team's approach to the soundtrack, with in-house composer Andrew Hulshult describing his approach on several of the game's tracks, revamping them with inspiration from 1980's thrash metal aesthetic, and working with the original game's musician, Lee Jackson. Check it out below.
For more insight into the creative process Hulshult goes into even greater detail in this Dev blog, and this page on soundcloud offers complete previews of several of the reworked tracks.
Rise of the Triad is the works for PC, with $14.99 price point planned, but a release date yet to be specified.
