We shared info on a third-party-focused State of Play from Sony which would showcase games coming for PS5, PS4 and PSVR 1 and 2, and the show, while not hugely dense, still managed to make a bit of a statement on the quality of things to come thanks largely by kicking off proceedings with a first look at Resident Evil 4 Remake.



Coming to PS5 on March 24, 2023 this remake of a once-in-a-generation release has some pretty big shoes to fill, and while Shinji Mikami's original release is heralded for a shift in how action games would be made forever moving forward, Resident Evil 4 Remake looks set to be returning the series' horror roots with this update. From the very limited two minutes or so it also looks like there will be earlier Ashley sections of the game, perhaps setting up her kidnapping and an intermittent escape before Leon arrives to save the day.

It should also be noted the voice of Leon doesn't appear to be Paul Mercier who did the first game, and a handful of subsequent Leon outings. In Resident Evil 2 Remake Leon was voiced by Nick Apostolides (who did a pretty good job), which we're hoping, at least, is who is behind the series' hunk in this latest update.
