MachineGames looks to be continuing the id tech engine's legacy of both visual fidelity and smooth framerates with the upcoming Wolfenstein: The New Order, as publisher Bethesda has reportedly confirmed that both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game will be running 60 frames per second at a full 1080p resolution (source: GamingBolt.

Xbox One owners should find the news particularly encouraging after several multi-platform games have had to compromise overall screen resolution in order to achieve the same frame-rate performance as their PlayStation 4 offerings. PC gamers should then also be able to safely expect the game to function quite well on higher spec machines.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is due on May 23 for PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

So to be clear, The consoles will be outputting *native* 1080p without upscaling?

If so, that's awesome. Should be the case with all games, it's bloody 2014.

The gameplay trailer thing actually made this look quite good, and given that the chronicles of ridd*** developer was involved I have a newfound interest in this game. Don't know why you wouldn't get it on PC though...
