Zenimax Online has been rather quiet when it comes to the topic of subscriptions numbers for their online Elder Scrolls, having so far given no indication on the level since its launch earlier this year. According to a new report from SuperData Research (via GamesIndustry International), that number is sitting on the rough line of 772,374 since June.

The data doesn't explicitly state where the figures have come from, however SuperData's MMO earnings are compiled from "the monthly spending of 36.9 million digital gamers, worldwide, collected from developers, publishers, and payment service providers." We presume the numbers have come from the same source.

As stated above, both developer Zenimax Online and publisher Bethesda have declined to release sales since its April launch. Due to ZeniMax Media being a privately held company, the data isn't required to be released which has made things far more difficult in figuring out player numbers. In today's gaming age though, especially on the MMO front, if your numbers are high you usually want to shout them from the rooftops.

So far only the PC version of The Elder Scrolls Online is available to subscribers, with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version to follow at some point in the future. The console games were originally delayed in May for six months, putting it at a rough ballpark release on November.

We recently took a look at The Elder Scrolls Online post-launch, and just what it has to offer in terms of end-game content and its possible future. What are your thoughts on The Elder Scrolls Online? Could it become a free-to-play title soon? Let us know in the comments!

i am still playing eso & enjoying it. mostly co-op pve play, but i reckon the end is in sight.
i have explored all of the pact lands, about 3/4 of the covernant lands & about 1/3 of the dominion lands... when i have explored all of it, i doubt i will keep playing unless it goes free to play.
