According to a new report over at Bloomberg, Jason Schreier paints the picture of some first-party turmoil in PlayStation land -- with the AAA output and established IP from key studios taking priority over smaller outfits.

Citing sources, the studio behind the PS4's Days Gone was apparently given the red light when it came to the prospect of Days Gone 2. Instead, Sony Bend was put to work on a new Uncharted game under the supervision of Naughty Dog -- a move that saw people exit.

The report outlines a situation where Sony's premiere first-part developers are given priority over smaller studios and smaller projects -- something that has seen Sony's Visual Arts Service Group and even Sony's Japan development teams to recently lose a lot of staff over a general disinterest in new or small-scale projects from the higher ups.

The Visual Arts Service Group in particular was apparently looking to expand as it was working on a PlayStation 5 remake of The Last of Us (which was 'remastered' for PS4) -- a project it felt would get the support of Sony. Citing issues staffing up for it's now reported that the remake is being led by Naughty Dog -- which is also apparently working on a new multiplayer game. With Visual Arts Service Group remaining a small support studio.

In terms of AAA hits, Sony's first-party stable is unmatched, as is the cinematic quality produced by its studios. From God of War to the The Last of Us Part II to Horizon Zero Dawn and Ghost of Tsushima. In the case of Sony Bend it's not all bad news as the Bloomberg report notes that as recent as last month the team was given the green light to start working on a brand new IP for the PlayStation 5.
