Arkane Austin (Prey, Dishonored) is in the final stretch of development for its upcoming single-player and co-op action game Redfall - it's out May 2, 2023, for Xbox Series X|S and PC. Today comes a new lengthy story trailer from publisher Bethesda and Arkane that hints at the game's mix of science experiments gone wrong and blood-soaked horror.
We also get a decent chunk of in-game action on top of a great look at the town of Redfall, the open-world environment where the game takes place.
There’s a lot more to the charming island of Redfall than meets the eye. The scientists at Aevum HQ have been working on something world-shattering. People are going missing; there’re dead bodies and blood everywhere; the sun has been eclipsed; and vampires rule the town. Were the vampires just an experiment gone horribly wrong or something far more disturbing? Who are the vampire gods? The only thing to know for sure is that everything is going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better.
It's certainly a great little bit of scene-setting, though the big question is how Arkane's take on a more co-op action-RPG style of action game fits in with the more measured and cerebral games the studio is known for. We've recently had the chance to play some Redfall thanks to Bethesda, so stay tuned to AusGamers for our thoughts sometime in the future.
