It seems that the videogame world at large is eager for the announcement of a new Red Dead Redemption from Rockstar. Deep down we all kind of expect that its pretty far along in development, even though there hasn't been a single announcement about the existence of the game. But, thanks to a recent post of the supposed in-game map to NeoGAF and a independent confirmation by Techradar, it looks like Red Dead Redemption 2 is happening. And that it might be a prequel.

After the map was first shown, people quickly pointed out that it covers the east of the location featured in the original Red Dead Redemption. And that it looks to contain a lot more water. Plus, snowy mountains, forests, and desert like locations.

Take a look at a high res version of the leaked map here.

As mentioned earlier its rumoured that the game will be prequel to the events depicted in Red Dead Redemption. And if indeed this is a real map from the game, the lack of railroad tracks adds weight to this rumour. And, as Red Dead Redemption was as much an ode to the wild west as it was the impending dawn of the modern industrial age, a prequel sounds like the right direction for the series to take.
