Yeah, this is a big one. And something that we've been quitely hoping for since it was announced that the Xbox One X could run Xbox 360 titles at 4K with improved texture filtering and effects. Red Dead Redemption is the latest title to get Xbox One X support - alongside other gems Darksiders, Gears of War 2, Portal 2, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.
Plus, Sonic Generations. For some reason.
But really, as Red Dead Redemption only ever saw a release on Xbox 360 and PS3 without an eventual PC release, this is essentially the definitive version of an all-time classic. The 4K output on the Xbox One X effectively provides 9 times the pixel count.
As per our
original review, "Red Dead Redemption is brutal, gritty and wearing. The West was not a nice place or time to live in, but they've done a stellar job of making you feel like you need to make the most of it, and the characters you meet throughout your journey are all memorable and in place with the world around you. I found myself not wanting to finish the game's narrative for fear of finality, it's that engaging."
And with Red Dead Redemption 2
on the horizon, it looks like there's no better time to relive the ballad of John Marsten.
