With Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall FPS now firmly in the hands of the public - and Australians sated with more local-based servers to conduct their wall-jumping without fear of lag - we at AusGamers promised you a local review and so here it is.
To change things up a bit, we decided to step into the world of video reviews, and so debuting our very first video today is the return of our previous Titanfall reviewer Joaby Gilroy, and his talented Titan driving skills.
Check it out below in full (
a direct link), and find our initial review

You guys planning on moving into more vidya reviews?
Also lol at old mate, 'nobody listened to me'. We didn't get proper confirmation of local servers until the day before they went live.

And yeah, I'm thoroughly enjoying Titanfall atm. Haven't gotten around to CTF yet but definitely will now.

As for titanfall - i know i just got told to go get it and play it but there are just too many niggles for a long time PC FPS player. For example after playing 12 v 12 (or even more) it just seems going back to 6v6 with bots is a big step back no matter how they fudge it with AI and small maps etc. Hopefully its a ploy to enable them to release a "bigger better updated DLC" mode down the line (which you will have to buy of course).

There is already a written review.

Thanks for the props guys. Was good to get to talk about some of the other elements of Titanfall, like the wallrunning game and creep mechanics.

That's definitely a factor. But it's mainly because I don't play games much at all anymore and when I do it's usually DOTA 2 or StarCraft 2.
I played Quake and friends to death. Quake 4 wasn't that good and never really took off, and Quake Live is just Q3A which I'm over. If there is ever a new Quake game I'll probably play it.
Who knows what the new Doom will be like?

Meh. I got it cheap and even then, I regret buying it.

As a point of constructive feedback:
-The voicing in this video would benefit from a more enthusiastic tone, it sounds like you're a bit tired and that affects how this video engages with me (and I would assume a number of other viewers).
-Also some of the timings in regard to pausing between sections of voicing could be tightened up in line with what I've mentioned above.
Again, this is intended to be constructive. I want to be helpful so that your video reviews can be the best they can be.

Thanks for the feedback Shao. I struggled to find a balance between being clear and being enthusiastic, if I get too enthusiastic I talk too quickly and become fairly unintelligible. I'll focus on it for next time.

I doubt it'll be anything like Q3A style.

As a long time FPS player myself, it's refreshing to finally get away from the large player games where duelling doesn't happen simply because you spend more time getting shot in the back by a player you never see rather than outsmarting and out-shooting a single player at a time.
Even CS and DoD was best played 6v6 or 5v5.
There is no shortfall of action in these 'tiny' 6 v 6 pub games.

The BF/COD serieses are horrible, slow, skilless clones of each other. Spam, camping, backrage, noobs... f*****g noobs everywhere.
noobs.
EDIT: excellent game. Once again, Joaby knows the score.
