That's right, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2 are getting the re-release treatment alongside performance improvements and graphical enhancements. Out this week on Xbox One, PS4, and PC you may remember these games from the mid-2000s as a sort-of beat-em-up Marvel meets Diablo co-operative experience starring a bunch of Marvel heroes. Based on the slightly dusty memory unit housed in KostaBot3000 they were both, "Yeah, okay I guess."

Both the original and sequel got mostly positive reviews back in the day with, depending on the platform, their Metacritic scores ranging somewhere in the 70s and low 80s region. With the surprise announcement and release happening in the space of a week, perhaps Marvel is looking at bringing back the series.

Which, would be pretty cool. As a beat-em-up with action-RPG mechanics set in the Marvel Universe is an idea worth revisiting until it's done right.
